23rd Anna Monika Award for 2011
The 2011 Anna Monika Prize was awarded as a first and second prize in 2011. The first prize was awarded to Prof. Dr. Dr. Eric Nestler, a leader in depression research for two decades, beginning with the development of the neurotropic hypothesis of depression, the development of the resident intruder model to study the disease, the analysis of epigenetic contributions to depression and unique work in beginning to define the molecular basis of resilience. The second prize was offered to Prof. Dr. Rainer Rupprecht for his work on neurosteroids and the action of antidepressants on ion gated channels, opening a new avenue for the development of novel antidepressants.
The prize will be awarded at the DGPPN annual meeting in Berlin in 2012.
